Cleansing the Mind

Lately, I've been struggling with staying focused. At first, I thought it was because I had too much going on but the true cause of this issue is that I am allowing my mind to focus on too many things. Keeping your mind clean is a very important and necessary task. If we do not focus on what God has for us, we can lose track of our task at hand and lose focus on what needs to be done.

So how do we cleanse our minds?

For me, cleansing my mind means taking a break. I have to take time to literally do nothing. Sometimes this means taking a break to turn off all the lights and sit in bed and just close my eyes. Other times, this means dropping to my knees and praying that God steadies my mind and focuses on Him. I highly recommend finding ways in which you feel calm. For some, it may be drinking tea, for others, it means taking a walk. Cleansing your mind is essential because it allows you to get to a place that you can just be at peace with where you are at that moment.

The last two months have been exhausting mentally for me. Between college, work, organizations, volunteering, and finding time for myself, I feel pulled in a million different directions and honestly need a break often. I can often feel right when I need to take time to be alone. I usually feel a bit overwhelmed and consumed. Life can get hectic at times, what we must do is find that alone time with the lord and allow for Him to take the stressors, anxiety, and pressures off of us. We must let it go and entrust it with the Lord and pray that He is in control.

Find time within your day to seek peace with the Lord, it will be one of the best decisions of your day!
