Demi Moore Will Host This Year’s amfAR Gala Cannes

With Cher who will take center stage to perform

 

For this year’s Cannes amfAR Gala, taking place May 23th, actress, producer, and New York Times best-selling author Demi Moore will be hosting the evening. This will be the 30th edition of the gala and Moore’s first time attending in 27 years. She will be in Cannes, at the film festival premiering her new film, which will be in competition The Substance, a film also starring Margaret Qualley. Moore was a household name in the 90s, where she became the highest paid actress in Hollywood. She continues to take well thought out roles like playing Ann Woodward in Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, and she will star in Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace’s drama Landman on Paramount+. 

"We are excited and grateful to have Demi Moore back with amfAR in Cannes. She joined us at the gala in 1997, helping to raise critical funds for AIDS research, and she has been a loyal supporter ever since," said amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost in announcement notes.

Known to bring together the who’s who in film, fashion, and music all dressed in black-tie is one of the events to attend during the Cannes Film Festival. Held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, in Antibes, France, right after guests arrive and walk the red carpet, they are ushered down the grand stairs out front the hotel to the cocktail hour. This year pop icon, Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar winning singer Cher will be performing. She joins a long list of Cannes gala performers from Alicia Keys, to Ricky Martin, and Christina Aguilera. Simon de Pury, the famous auctioneer will facilitate the evening’s auction of luxury goods, experiences, and art; while Carine Roitfeld will curate her annual gala fashion show with gowns from Europe’s top fashion houses.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research is a top nonprofit organization that has speant almost forty years, investing in AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and advocacy. $635 million has been invested into over 3,800 grants to research teams around the world.

It was amfAR’s founding international chairman, Dame Elizabeth Taylor that hosted their first-ever gala in Cannes in 1993 at the Moulin de Mougins. This year, Chopard and the Red Sea International Film Festival are presenting sponsors, while Homolog and Draft Kings are the signature sponsors, with support from Gérard Bertrand, Piper-Heidsieck and RUMOR Rosé.
