Dressing for Your Age: Does Age Really Matter When It Comes to What We Wear?

People always say to dress your age but do we really have to? If we’re happy and comfortable, our age shouldn’t define what we should or should not wear

Wearing a tee shirt and jeans might be considered super causal or perhaps, even more of a look from our teenage years, but it doesn’t mean that we’re going to look like a kid if we dress that way. You can surely find a faded pair of jeans along with the perfect logo shirt or maybe something simpler, like a bright colored shirt that looks perfect on you. Don’t limit what you can and cannot wear just because you feel like you’re too old to wear an outfit. If you like it, wear it. Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re too old to wear that (if they do happen to say so, then it’s probably because he or she feels that way about themselves).

Our glorious prom and other dance days may be over but that doesn’t mean we can never wear an elegant long dress ever again even if it does happen to be silver or gold. Find a dress and try it on. You don’t need an occasion to find the perfect dress. Just forget about how old you are at that moment and just see how you feel. If you see that it fits you well and suits you, get it. Don’t let your inner critic stop you from getting the perfect dress and wearing it when you want to. You deserve to dress well, no matter what your age is.

Your long nights of partying might have slowed down and that’s totally alright. You might perhaps not even like wearing sequins or anything that remotely glitters or shines besides on certain occasions. You might even feel like you look like a shiny disco ball or overly dressed because of your age, but that’s what makes dressing up fun! Get something that shines and shimmers and wear it to a night out with the guys and gals. Don’t stop yourself just because you think you’re too grown-up to wear something that glitters. Be fearless and wear what you like. Age is just a number anyways, so we might as well live our lives the way we want to.
