Forge Ahead

I’m in the middle of moving homes. For those of you who know the stress of moving it’s physically and emotionally taxing. The purging, the disorganization, the organization of helpers and the constant cleaning. It’s relentless. In the midst of it all I’ve been working long hours and attending previously committed events, all the while, in the back of my mind I was constantly reminded that I had yet to complete my article for this month’s post.

I finally got on my knees this weekend absolutely exhausted and prayed this simple prayer: “Lord, I’m tired. I can hardly think some days. At best my prayers are in tongues because I can’t seem to put words together. I’m stretched thin this month and I know that in my weakness you can make me strong. In my humbleness you can lift me up by your righteous right hand. Today Lord, send an extra covering of intercession for me so that I can push through and meet every commitment this month. Give me the strength to not give up because I know that I can only sustain this season with your help. Amen”. Then I boldly declared Matthew 11:28-29 over myself, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” And in the stillness of perfect peace I sensed the words: FORGE.

After sitting for a few seconds I franticly got my notebook and began to write the following:

The definition of the word “forge” is to create something strong, to endure, to remain successful. This word came to me in my prayer time. A time when I was in complete surrender before the Lord. A time set apart from the distractions of the world, the distractions of time, people, work, and a multitude of other activities.

There are many situations that can cause us to feel defeated; however, I encourage you to FORGE AHEAD. In the process of learning to forge, you must also learn to replenish, which can only be done by soaking in the Word and Prayer. Instead of feeling discouraged, FORGE AHEAD and know that in your weakness you are made strong. In the wait for provision, FORGE AHEAD and declare thankfulness because with Christ you are never in lack. When circumstances seem unchanged, FORGE AHEAD and declare victory because God’s hand is in motion behind the curtain. As you wait for a touch, a drop from heaven, FORGE AHEAD with confidence that you are not forgotten, but rather held in the palm of His hands.

In order to be successful in battle you must always move forward by running, by pushing and never looking back. FORGE full steam ahead. The Lord your God is with you! In Him there is never defeat but rather defence!

The best advice is learned from our own experiences. I know that each time I have felt like I’m about to fall I recall the Blood of Jesus. For it is by His blood that we are covered with grace that will catch us and sustain us. Pastor John Gray said it best, “If you’re going to be a disciple you must first take up your cross and follow Him (surrender all things). Sometimes when you’re serving God you get beat-up on your way to your destiny.”  The encouraging news is that you are still on your way!
