The New Year is almost here and now is the perfect time to find some festive and sparkly clothing options for the season. If you’re like me, chances are this year you won’t be buying a new outfit because of the ongoing pandemic. Here are a few ways you can make an old outfit look new again.

First, add some accessories. It can be a simple brooch or a necklace. Find a statement piece that changes the look of the outfit and adds some sparkle. Choose a long necklace for simpler outfits and use a brooch for cocktail dresses. You’ll be surprised how much such an accessory can change the overall look of an outfit. If it’s a dress that you want to wear again, you can also add a belt instead of a brooch. Make sure the belt sits well on the outfit and is not falling off.

If you’re planning on celebrating at home and want to wear a simple outfit like jeans with a printed top or a top with sequins and you’ve worn this before, plan on adding a blazer or a light sweater. In this case, a necklace or brooch wouldn’t work as that would blend in with the top. When wearing a sequin shirt be careful not to choose a super delicate sweater that will snag. If you want something a bit more formal, wear a light blazer that you would normally wear for work or a special occasion.

And of course, there are a lot of options that we might choose to wear again, like that sequin top you always find yourself wearing with jeans. If you really want to wear the same top again but with a skirt or jeans, consider changing the outfit’s combination. If you wore that top with jeans the last time, wear it instead with a skirt this time. This can work vice versa as well (imagine how many new outfit options you’ll now have!) You can also change up the accessories as well.

It is possible to revamp an old outfit. Just remember that a few simple changes such as adding some accessories, wearing a blazer or sweater, or just switching the outfit combination helps. You don’t have to buy a new outfit to look good and feel festive this year but you can work with what you have in your wardrobe already.
