There’s No god Like God

2020 has been a hard year for us all. I don’t think that there has been a year where every pocket of the globe has been hit with pain and suffering. I don’t think that any of us thought on New Year’s Day what we in for. From the Coronavirus that’s still running rampant, to hurricanes, the racial unrest in the United States, to the recent Beirut explosion, and to the killings happening in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, we’re all having our limit of what we can tolerate. But, in all these things God is faithful and He is on the throne, working in all this year’s pain.

Revelation 4 gives us a glimpse of our God who sits on His throne. His appearance is like jasper and rubies (v. 3) and verse 9 tells us that God is given praise always in Heaven: “thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever.” Friends, the mere fact that God is sitting on His throne at this very moment, is enough for us to get out of bed every morning and keep going.

In case you didn’t know which God, I’m talking about, it’s the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of all Creation, Who, sent His Son Jesus to redeem us from our sins. There is no god like our God and because of this, it is enough to get out of the bed every morning and keep going!

God knows all the chaos of our broken world but He’s still on His throne and that’s our cue to keep going, to keep doing our callings, to keep operating in our anointing, to keep being the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth, to keep loving one another, and to keep letting the Fruit of the Spirit pour out of us until Jesus’ returns. Because there is no god like our God, we are to keep moving with our lives.

I’m always amazed when God finally speaks to Job in all the suffering he had gone through in chapters 1 – 37. Finally, in chapter 38 of Job, God speaks and He shows Job (and us) there is no god like Him:

Through a series of poignant questions from Job 38-41, God basically asks Job if he can match HIS power? Job responds in chapter 42, verse 2: “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”

Friends, this is our Mighty Everlasting God. He is all powerful and there is no other god or power (other than His) that is like Him. In spite of the chaos of our world, our God has everything under control, and in the midst of the pain and suffering He has the final say. No other human, religiosity, idol, or façade that seems real is like our God Almighty. So, let us not lose heart but continue running the race that He has set out for us with joy, tenacity and perseverance (Hebrews 12: 1-3). Don’t lose heart, don’t fear, and don’t give up- our God has this world in his hands and that’s enough to get out of the bed every day and keep going.

Happy Friday and with love! God bless you and go bless someone else this weekend!
