What Is Really Truth?
8 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 9 “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”

10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.
— Exodus 7: 8-13

This Bible scene is the very beginning of Moses going before Pharaoh, appealing to the king of Egypt to let His people, the Israelites go. In this world there is a lot of noise of the question of truth? What is true? Christianity is the most fragmented faith with over 30,000 denominations. Other religions have various sects but none is as divided as Christianity. It’s like trying to find a diamond in a sea of broken glass. If Christianity is supposedly the truth, if Jesus is supposedly the way to salvation to God, why are there so many denominations? The devil would love to keep the truth confused. He knew he couldn’t stop the church so he joined it and fragmented it. If you’re truly wanting to God- one being, three persons it takes seeking and asking God to open your eyes to what is faith truth.

Religion isn’t the only divided institution. There are a lot of people posing as the best of this or that? But, how do you know if they are selling is real?

In this scene with Moses, God had previously told Moses to throw down his staff before the Egyptian king. This was done as a way for God to show that He is real before man, even before an earthly king. But the Egyptians were magicians and the king’s sorcerers were able to do magic and turn their thrown down sticks into snakes. So, who is real? Moses or the Egyptian king? Whose divine power is real?

When Moses’ staff that turned into a snake ate the Egyptian snake that shows God shares His glory and identity with no other faith. He is God and God alone. But still, the Egyptian king wouldn’t accept this and had to suffer in ten more times before he conceded to let the Israelites leave 400 years of slavery in Egypt.

Oftentimes in life, something will seem like the truth because it appears that one or so many others can do what God can do. It took 10 plagues before the Egyptian king realized that Moses God is God.

It takes walking in the Spirit of God, patience to discern, prophecy, prayer, maybe sometimes fasting, and the counsel of others to know if something is the real power or the fake power. Whatever we’re weighing up in life, God knows what’s real and what’s best for us. Let’s humble ourselves to omniscient God to seek His ultimate revelation of something before we fully believe it and engage with it.

Happy Friday and with love! God bless you and go bless someone else this weekend!
